Marsh Orchids (Dactylorhiza)

Marsh Orchids (Dactylorhiza)

Frog orchid

Please note that the frog orchid (D.viridis) is now considered to be a dactyl
following reclassification of British orchids by Professor Richard Bateman. It was formerly known as Coeloglossum viride.

The narrow-leaved marsh now inudes D.lapponica. Irish marsh orchid was formerly known as D.majalis var Occidentalis -or broad-leaved marsh. The Wesh form of this orchid (inc. cambrensis = majaliformis) appears to now be included under Northern marsh (D.purpurella).

There is just one other marsh orchid listed for teh UK, which is D.ebudensis (Hebredian marsh orchid), but this is not illustrated here.
